This Is How You Lose The Time War is a short science-fiction romance written by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. The two main characters, Red and Blue are elite agents for their sides of the war tasked to travel through time and change the course of history. By passing hidden messages to each other, they slowly fall in love purely through poetry.

The cover for This Is How You Lose The Time War was created through photography. The title itself is one sheet cut out to form the letters, and the small birds that represent the two main characters are also paper. They had to be lifted a few inches off of each other and the background to create shadows.
The photos taken on an iPhone 14 pro were exported to Adobe Photoshop for color correcting and cropping.
